1. Purpose of the Form
The Section Editor Initial Review Form is intended to:
- Ensure the manuscript aligns with the journal’s aims and scope.
- Evaluate the basic quality and compliance with formatting guidelines.
- Provide an early decision: revision, rejection, or forward to peer review.
2. Evaluation Criteria
The following criteria should be reviewed, with boxes marked as:

Please also provide comments for each item, especially if marked as 'Poor' or 'Unacceptable'.
A. Review Domains – Does the manuscript match the general subject area covered by the journal?
B. Journal Aim and Scope – How well does the paper align with the scope and mission of PsyCraft Journal?
C. Journal Format – Has the manuscript followed the journal's formatting and submission guidelines?
D. Originality – Does the manuscript provide novel insights or original research?
E. Scientific Quality – Is the research methodologically sound and scientifically robust?
F. International Relevance – Are the findings meaningful for an international readership?
3. Recommended Editorial Action
At the end of the form, please select one of the following actions:
- Accept: No Revision Needed
- Accept: Minor Revision Needed
- Major Revision Needed: Suggest Revision and Resubmission
- Reject: Provide reasons in the comment boxes
